The members of our Board of Directors believe in our mission and work hard to give it life. These experienced business executives devote more time and effort than a typical board of directors. They’re proactive people who earn the trust of our Residents by their hands-on involvement in making Edgemere the wonderful world it is.

  Charles B. Brewer
Charlie is President and CEO of the Board for Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC) and serves on the boards of several public and private companies, while providing business reorganization consulting services. Charlie is also on the board of directors for our sister communities, The Buckingham in Houston; Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin; Mirador, coming soon to Corpus Christi and The Stayton at Museum Way, coming soon to Fort Worth.

C. Scott Sykes, Jr.
Scott is Chairman of the Board of Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC). Scott was formerly General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Voluntary Hospitals of America, Inc., Irving, Texas and formerly Chairman and President of SureQuest Systems, Inc., Dallas, Texas. He is a former partner of the New York law firm of Willkie Farr and Gallagher and a former U.S. Infantry Captain who served in Vietnam. He graduated from the University of Virginia College and Law School. He is now Chairman and Owner of Sykes and Associates, Dallas, Texas. Scott is a Board member of The Buckingham in Houston, The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth and Mirador in Corpus Christi.
   
Bernard Francis
Bernie is Chief Executive Officer of Business Control Systems, L.P., and currently serves Governor Perry as a Regent of the Texas State University System. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors for Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin, The Buckingham in Houston; Mirador in Corpus Christi; and The Stayton in Fort Worth. 
   
Cary Clayborn
Cary is a Principal of Bernstein Global Wealth Management in Dallas, Texas. Formerly, he served as Senior Cardiovascular Specialist and Field Trainer with Heartport, and was instrumental in the 2001 merger of Heartport and Johnson & Johnson. A West Point graduate, Cary received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Chemistry as part of the Pre-Med program. He served in Germany for five years, leaving the service with the rank of Captain, before receiving his Master's degree in Business (Science Management) through the European Division of Troy State University. Cary is also on the Board of Directors of Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin, Mirador in Corpus Christi and The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth.
