We want to provide an update on COVID-19 within our Edgemere community. We learned on Monday, September 28th, that two of our team members tested positive for the virus. By way of recap, we have a total of three active team member cases of COVID-19, and all are self-isolating at home with the support of our Human Resources team.
As previously communicated, we have one active independent living resident case of the virus, and this individual is being cared for in the hospital. This is our only active resident case of the virus.
We understand that you have concerns and may have questions about COVID-19 and the current situation in our community. Please know we continue with our commitment to protect the health and safety of our residents and team members, and our team continues to be proactive in mitigating the risk of further exposure to the virus within our community.
Lifespace and Edgemere continue to follow heightened infection control guidelines and we highly encourage residents to only leave the community for essential needs like groceries or critical medical appointments. Residents and team members are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear a mask or face covering when interacting with others in public settings. Team members are also asked to practice social distancing during break and meal periods. Proper hand hygiene including handwashing and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer are essential to preventing the spread of the virus. As we have done throughout the last several weeks, we will provide regular updates about our efforts to maintain a safe and healthy community.
We appreciate your support and continued adherence to the protocols we have implemented to protect our residents and team members. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Edgemere management team.
